Sensory Artistic Experiences for the Blind (Multisensory Art)

The project is aimed at members of marginalized groups, specifically the blind and visually impaired. The project will involve artists and designers from three countries: SI,HR,RS. We plan to establish transnational collaboration, fostering mutual learning, exchanging experiences, and circulating sensory innovative artistic works.

Key activities include establishing an outdoor sensory gallery, conducting 12 workshops for the blind, organizing 3 exhibitions of blind artworks, and 6 exhibitions featuring sensory artworks adapted for the blind. Throughout these activities, we will emphasize the inclusion of cultural heritage and adopt a sustainable approach.

The sensory exhibitions, and outdoor sensory sculptures, will serve as pilot tests for new practices that can later be expanded on a larger scale in other EU countries. Visual art for the blind represents an innovative means of expression for artists and designers. We will experiment with multisensory approaches, incorporating sounds, scents, and tactile sensations, e.g. the use of a 3D printer to create tactile images.

Workshops designed for the blind will provide them with specific skills, therapeutic effects influencing self-esteem, socialization, and overall quality of life. The project aims to generate additional income through artistic expression by enabling the establishment of sales channels.

In the EU, there are over 30 million blind and visually impaired, yet there are limited cultural events and workshops in the field of visual arts accessible to them. We aim to provide the blind with access to visual culture presented in an innovative and inclusive manner.

We plan to promote the project through various channels, including online posts on partners’ websites, events at exhibition openings, social media platforms, and a video. Additionally, we will create a multimedia interactive book in 4 languages. All activities will be implemented in cooperation with associations for the blind in all involved countries.
