Movies in Motion

Movies in Motion is a year-round programme of film screenings in 13 different venues in Istria towns without cinemas. The programme will connect Istria on both sides of the border through film and other arts in a unique way. Two to four screenings of selected recent European films per month will be offered to both young and wider audiences, and the programme also includes a number of special events to popularise the cinema experience (screenings, artists’ performances, live cinema performances and children’s workshops). Five partner organisations from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and the UK will together facilitate 196 events of this kind. Many of the activities are aimed at developing film literacy and awakening a love of the art of film among schoolchildren growing up in places without cinema access and, of course, the local community as a whole. The ultimate aim of the project is to encourage the target audience to be open to European (and) author’s film, as well as to encourage local communities to recognise the project as a good practice through which they can sustainably develop film culture and cultural hubs in the future.
