If you are a heritage professional, scholar, educator and teacher, cultural tourism expert or just interested in exploration of cultural routes for modern travellers with an idea of preservation and promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity within the European cultural heritage, we invite you to join us and participate in exchange of knowledge and experiences in these domains at the 8th ICARUS Croatia Days – “Enhancing Heritage Experience – Exploring Cultural Routes”.
Šibenik, Croatia, 23–24 March 2023. For further info, see https://e-routes.eu/call-for-papers/. Submission deadline 15 January 2023.
The project Time travel routes through Europe (E-ROUTES) is designed with the aim of delivering a new approach in presenting European travel routes through GLAM holdings and artistic material that have mutual cultural denominations for the countries participating in the project. The project delivers a multilayered platform in the form of digital collections, user-friendly application with augmented reality, multicultural artistic and specialist communication and exchange program.
This multilayered platform will provide means for the research, selection, digitization, presentation and usage of the travel routes material, such as travelogues, diaries, biographies, works of art, images, photos, etc. The topic of travel routes is understood as a space for intercultural dialogue and the basis for both cultural and tourist routes that at intertwined levels connect the geographical space and the periods from the 18th century until present time. This way travel or journey is presented as a way of communication that connects places and people through a common experience, which provides the basis for the shared cultural heritage and wider European perspective that crosses time, space, and borders.
Partners in the project are Serbian Library Association (coordinator), ICARUS Croatia, National and University Library Slovenia, and Centro MUSA (Musei delle Scienze Agrarie) of the Federico II University of Naples. The project has a wider European perspective than a well connected region in terms of historical paths and modern highways, which includes European authors writing about their experience of traveling through the mentioned lands from the 18th century until present time. The results of the project will have their effect through the phases of project implementation and after the completion of the entire project. Although related to the theme of the travel routes, the audience of the project will be very diverse in terms of the target groups to which the project addresses.
