The project Let me tell you my story: circulation of European literary works for youngsters consists of translation, publication, distribution and promotion of 15 of the finest contemporary European stories for adolescents; unfortunately, an age category that has been neglected on the book market in North Macedonia in the last few decades. With this project we hasten to fill this lacuna, by introducing young readers to high-quality literature tailored to their age. Each year, five titles shall be published and promoted. The edition includes authors from seven different European countries: France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Greece and Poland. As suggested by its title, this project also seeks to convey an underlining message to young readers in general. This shall be brought into full sight during the promotional campaign, the central element of which is the concept of storytelling. The idea and art of storytelling shall not only be used to promote the titles published within this project, but we shall also draw attention to the importance and emancipatory potential of storytelling. We would like to offer young readers the opportunity to hear contemporary European stories, but also to remind them of the value of their own stories. Connecting to literary characters with whom they share common feelings and worldviews, we hope that young readers will learn to appreciate and express their own points of view. This is also an attempt to popularize reading among adolescents and expand the circle of young readers with social categories, whose stories have not been told yet. To this end, the program of the promotional campaign includes the creation of a digital interactive book. Because the art of storytelling has survived on the fringes of formal institutions and the participants in the book-production chain are not familiar with this concept, in the first year of the project, we plan to organize a symposium on storytelling, together with our Slovenian partner, followed by 15 workshops, and a festival.
