The overall goal of this project is to co-create, adopt and disseminate environment-friendly practices and artistic productions in the field of bio art and raise awareness on sustainable development in line with the European Green Deal across Europe, especially Western Balkan. The specific objective is to produce and showcase innovative and engaging formats of bio art installations using art, science and technology at 2 festivals in Serbia and BiH through cross disciplinary cooperation of 30 artists, scientific researchers, and curators.
The project activities will last for 24 months and include 1 International Bio art forum, 2 study visits taking place in laboratories in Ljubljana and Dubrovnik, 2 online DIY workshops, at least 20 workshops at mobile laboratories resulting in 2 junior and 2 seniors art pieces being exhibited during festivals in Novi Sad and Pecka. Follow up activities will include re-creation of artistic experiment The One Tree(s), meaning creating cloned seeds of a tree which will be planted in all partner countries as a symbol of new awakening of the ecological awareness and platform for building future long-term exchange programs.
The results of the project will be 4 interactive bio art installations at two festivals, a network of bio art laboratories in the region, film and a white paper on the whole process. The project will involve 30 direct multidisciplinary participants who will work in laboratories and more than 3000 local artists, scientific researchers, culture workers and festival visitors as an indirect group. Through the project direct participants will have intercultural and artistic exchange as well as space to discover new practices in bio art by working with colleagues from EU and non-EU countries. The created art pieces will be part of the two different festivals, Kaleidoscope – an urban festival, which came about as a result of the Novi Sad – ECOC program in Serbia and a rural one – Pecka Outdoor Festival.
