The 10th and 11th edition of FeKK – Ljubljana Short Film Festival

FeKK – Ljubljana Short Film Festival is the largest Slovenian festival platform exclusively dedicated to short film form in all its varieties. The festival is organized by Kraken Association for the Promotion of Short Film. Throughout its first eight editions, FeKK has not only established itself well nationally and regionally, but is also regularly taking part in an increasing number of different international partnerships. The main objectives of FeKK are to present, circulate and promote a diversity of European short films and talents, engage and educate audiences, promote film heritage and increase its availability to the public. FeKK also strives for a social, sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to running the festival. As a festival it strives to offer a specialised insight for film curators, festival selectors, film critics, producers, distributors and other professionals into the South-East region of Europe’s short film production which is often overlooked. FeKK organizes a vast number of various short film screenings, workshops and other events to pursue the above objectives. Throughout different festival sections diverse types of audiences are addressed and invited to attend film criticism and screenwriting workshops, networking events, special screenings for the sensorially impaired, and video on demand platforms. With the steady growth throughout the years, FeKK is reaching new audiences with every edition and had more than 6000 visitors in the year 2022. Visitors vary from younger audiences, students, cultural workers, film professionals, locals and tourists. So far, there has been approximately a 15% yearly increase in festival visitors with each edition (with the exception of covid restriction years). Future aims include expanded outreach of the festival, particularly among young audiences, developing further a network of partnerships and striving for fair working conditions and environment.
