Music Moves Europe : Promoting environmental sustainability and green transition in the European music sector

The European Commission has announced a call for proposals under the Music Moves Europe (with a budget of 5 million euros). The aim of the call is to support the green transition and environmental sustainability of the European music ecosystem.

Open Calls · December 9, 2024

Music Moves Europe (MME) provides support to the European music sector. It is based on active dialogue with stakeholders, political coordination, legal provisions, and funding.

MME has six key strategic priorities, aimed at supporting the development of the music sector in Europe and making it more sustainable and resilient to future challenges:

  • promoting the digital transition of the sector;
  • supporting the green transition;
  • promoting the diversity of European music;
  • encourage fair remuneration of artists and improving working conditions;
  • improving data about the music sector; and
  • supporting the cross-border mobility of artists as well as the circulation of repertoire within and beyond Europe.

MME promotes a diverse, competitive, innovative, and sustainable European music sector. The music sector still faces key challenges, as it is in the process of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Its slow recovery is further complicated by rising costs due to inflation and high energy prices resulting from Russia’s unlawful aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, the music sector is facing the global challenge of climate change and is striving to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.

The Commission will select one consortium, which will distribute the funding among approximately 60 recipients. The project must raise awareness and strengthen knowledge in the European music sector about the green transition and environmental sustainability of the music ecosystem and promote the development, testing, scaling, and use of specific practices to foster the green transition and sustainability of the music sector at the EU level.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 19, 2025.

Call document (for the call CREA-CULT-2024-MME) is available on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal, where you can also submit your application.
