Birds from the island in Maribor

On Europe Day, May 9 in Maribor, Slovenia, IRDO Institute will open a large mural by Fedja Šičarov that was created within the international project YAFE supported by the Creative Europe. The mural was created in cooperation with the Secondary School for Design Maribor (SŠOM).

On Europe Day, May 9, when we celebrate peace and unity in Europe, IRDO – Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility will open at 10 a.m. a mural, a large mural with entitled Birds from the Island, which was created within the framework of the international project YAFE – Youth Art for the Earth.

The author of the mural is a street artist and academic painter and pedagogue Fedja Šičarov, M.Sc., and the students of SŠOM helped him create it.

The mural was created in April and May 2024, and even before that, three-day workshops for young people on the topic of environmental sustainability and street art ended at SŠOM. The workshops took place from March 6 to 20, 2024, and were organized by the IRDO in cooperation with SŠOM.

Workshops with young people, a documentary film and large wall paintings (murals) on the topic of environmental sustainability are created within the framework of the YAFE international project in six European cities, including Ljubljana and Maribor.

The YAFE project is co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program and the Republic of Slovenia – Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry of Culture. The partners of the YAFE project are: Nobulo and Urban Art Paris, France, Fond B92, Serbia, and IRDO – Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility, Slovenia. More in the attachment.
