TravellingDocs: artificial intelligence and documentary film
This year, Creative Europe Centre Slovenia joins Travelling Docs, a travelling event organised by the European CED MEDIA Offices to offer capacity building in documentary film. This initiative that takes place in different countries each year and addresses topical issues in the field of documentary filmmaking.
This year, the focus will be on the artificial intelligence in documentary filmmaking, and the event will take place on 1 April 2025 as part of the ZAGREBDOX festival in Zagreb, Croatia.
It will also be possible to follow the seminar online live (only); the link will be added later.
Travelling Docs 2025 will be dedicated to the artificial intelligence, the possibilities it provides to the documentary filmmaking, but also all the ethical aspects that can’t be ignored. Important questions will be tackled: How to use generative technologies that can create convincing, but potentially inaccurate images, sounds or archival materials, without jeopardizing the trust of the audience? How do we maintain the integrity of our documentary stories?
Documentary is, at its core, an art in search of truth. With the emergence of artificial intelligence, the question of truth is becoming more and more complex. Can generative AI technology help to create deeper and truer art, or will it undermine the trust of our (already dwindling) audiences?
Travelling Docs 2025 is a collaboration between 18 CED MEDIA offices from across Europe.
